硕士生/博士生导师,药学院院长,教育部“长江学者奖励计划”特聘教授,国家杰出青年基金获得者,科技部“中青年科技创新领军人才”获得者,中国中药和天然药物专业委员会委员(湖北省主委),湖北省天然药物化学与资源评价重点实验室主任,国家CFDA新药审评专家,国家重大新药创制专项十二五《糖尿病新药临床前研究》课题组长,华中科技大学学术前沿青年团队重大疾病研究交叉创新团队负责人,主持国家863计划1项,国家自然科学基金项目7项,2011年获湖北省科技进步二等奖。人民卫生出版社2016版《天然药物化学》副主编,《华中科技大学学报医学版》副主编,《Sci. Rep.》编委,《药学学报》编委,《药学进展》编委,华中科技大学《天然药物化学》本科课程责任教授。

团队致力于曲霉属等二十余种真菌和华中地区金丝桃属等三十余种药用植物的次生代谢产物及其生物活性研究,迄今为止,分离和鉴定了活性天然产物2000余个,其中新化合物800余个,包括具有全新碳架的细胞松弛素、萜类、PPAPs65个,隶属于32个不同的新骨架类型,9个化合物被Nat. Prod. Rep.评为热点化合物,有药用开发前景的天然产物或衍生物10余个,在复杂天然产物的结构鉴定及活性研究、微量天然产物活性筛选及作用靶点确证、活性化合物深入药理及作用机制研究等方面取得了较好的成绩。近5年共发表通讯作者SCI论文90余篇,包括Hepatology 1(13.2)Angew. Chem. 4(11.9)Chem. Sci. 1(8.6)Org. Lett. 10(6.5)Sci.
